encode is a full set of Consultancy Development Services and consulting training designed to increase profitability and professionalism. Everyone who works in a consultative role, from Management Consultant to IT Consultant; from Accountant to Financial Services Adviser, in government and commerce, will all have relevant functional skills as a prerequisite of their role. But these functional skills cannot be applied effectively to clients' problems and issues unless the consultant has also:

There are many differing methods and processes employed. All will have a very similar set of stages and processes.
They may be described differently and they may have slight differences in the chronology of the content. They should cover the whole of the assignment cycle from the entry point to the close and evaluation phase.
Thameside Consulting's own methodology is called encode and the following description of each of its 6 stages identify, in addition, many of the skills and knowledge areas needed by the consultant.

In this phase are the first contacts with the Client, the research into the Client’s business and the qualification of the opportunity for an assignment. |
Here we carry out the initial high level diagnosis of the problem, scope the opportunity and plan how to address it. At this stage we set the Client’s expectations and create and present the proposal for the assignment. |

In the third stage detailed data gathering and diagnosis is carried out. This will result in the final definition of the Client’s requirement and the Statement of Work. |
Here the project is established, recommendations agreed and the solution and implementation plan developed.

In the fifth phase, project management is fully applied and the changes managed, both technical and organisational. Managing people and delegation to team members is essential in this phase. |
The final phase, most often rushed, covers the review and closure of the assignment with the handover to the Client. Here training of the Client’s staff and calculation of the benefit realised should happen, followed by exploring the opportunity for extension and referral.
