Management development courses

New managers Programme - 3 days

The effectiveness of first line managers can be a major factor in the success or failure of an organisation whatever its size.
The first line manager manages the people who do the work. This critical role can be the most difficult to "grow" into, making the transition from "one of the team" in to "the boss", and from doing everything yourself to getting work done through others. Getting it wrong can be costly for the organisation in terms of work performance and customer satisfaction. Getting it right means increased performance, energy, innovation, motivation and a sense of enjoyment that can spread through the entire team.

This course focuses on critical people management skills, and allows participants the opportunity to discuss and practice a wide range of techniques.

The outcome is the rapid development of the newly appointed manager who becomes more effective more quickly within their new management role.

Course Objectives

Participants will acquire the knowledge and skills to:

  • Identify the key skills, requirements and responsibilities of a new manager
  • Assess their own strengths and areas for improvement in these areas with the aim of enhancing performance within the next 3 months

  • Identify each members motivational needs and provide them with the right conditions to turn them on
